Bamboo Flooring Review: Pros & Cons

SHARE

Bamboo flooring is technically a grass plant and not a tree. However, it behaves like wood flooring since it is harder and more water resistant than most hardwoods.

It grows to harvesting size in approximately five years and reaches around 6-10 meters height depending on species.

Bamboo strands are glued together in order to form solid strips or engineered planks, just like hardwood. But what is the difference between bamboo and hardwood?

Bamboo vs. Hardwood Flooring

Bamboo and hardwood flooring share many similar characteristics and cost similar amounts, so the choice between them is not easy.

Typically, bamboo is lighter in color than most of the hardwoods. It has a uniform grain and texture, unlike hardwood which has unique grain pattern.

Bamboo is more environmentally friendly, since the root system is left intact when bamboo is harvested.

Other than this, both floorings are premium natural flooring which improve your property resale value.
